Hello everyone, Happy Easter! I hope you are having a great weekend with family and friends. Many asked-how is Sabum Alex doing? Here are the updates:

  • One of Canada’s top tricking athletes: representing the country to the US (2022) and Japan (2023)
  • 19 years old
  • 4th Dan Black Belt Kukkiwon, an assistant instructor Aikido & Silat
  • 2nd year Neuroscience Program at University of Toronto (Scarborough)

He misses everyone and wants me to convey his warm regards to you.

What a year! As we enter a holiday period that feels different from any other in the past, we wish to express our sincere appreciation to you, the members and friends of our Soengkono family, for your continued trust in our organization during what has proven to be one of the most challenging years in recent history. The perseverance and tenacity you have shown and the support we have received have been overwhelming.

We are blessed as a community to continue to find wonder and opportunity by keeping together while staying safely apart. Your loyalty and determination have inspired us to create a safe haven in our school that supports the needs of an ever changing world. As we look to 2021, we can’t wait to show you what’s next.

The Safety of our Students and Families is paramount to us, and while we can limit and control  students interaction in a class setting, it is impossible (and less than desirable) to do so in a party setting.  For this reason, the Soengkono World Class Martial Arts School has opted to cancel our annual Christmas Party.

We realize that this event is one of the highlights of Thunder Bay’s holiday season, with normally close to 300 students, family and friends attending and enjoying a night of awards, presentations and demonstrations from our TaeKwonDo, Aikido, Pentjak Silat and Tai Chi demonstration teams.  In postponing this event until next year, we want to ensure a joyous holiday season for all.

Ontario’s Stage 3 Re-Open Framework begins this Friday, July 17th, 2020!
The Soengkono World Class Martial Arts School will Re-Open, following the Ontario safety guidelines. This means that safety protocols will be in place during classes – social distancing outside of your family circle, no prolonged contact, etc.
Welcome back to our Assistant Instructors: Alex, Adrien, Dane, Jasyn, Aidyn, Earl, Wes, Andrij, Kai, Mike, and Andrew!
We know these times are challenging for all of us, and we thank you for your continued patience dedication. Let’s pick up our health and wellbeing, where we left off…looking forward to see you on our beautiful new Dojo!
